Welcome to MAKNET

 
The Malawi Knowledge Network (MAKNET) For Research Policy and Development is a knowledge management network established in 2008 to promote research, policy, development, and networking in Malawi,. MAKNET is being implemented under a grant from the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF). The Project Secretariat of MAKNET is at the Malawi Polytechnic in Blantyre. The Secretariat is governed by  steering committee members from the following organizations: Ministry of Development Planning and Cooperation, National Statistics Office(NSO), National Assembly, and Reserve Bank of Malawi,Centre for Social Research, Malawi  Local Government Association,(MALGA), National Bank of Malawi, the Malawi Confederation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, National Association of Business Women, Council for Non Governmental Organisations(CONGOMA) and the Economics Association of Malawi(ECAMA).
 
Objective of MAKNET
The overall objective of the project is to cultivate a culture of wide consultation through broadening access to and utilization of information in the formulation and implementation of development policies and programmes through a knowledge network
 
Aims of  MAKNET
The aim of the network is to facilitate sharing of knowledge, expertise, resource materials, best practices, lessons and experiences. It is also intended to facilitate effective engagement by stakeholders in advocacy for national and regional development agendas. The network will contain a database for inventory of a wide range of content including expertise and skills; institutions and development agencies; location and abridged information from research and policy analysis work in Malawi and the region; online debate forum; training materials and other online resources; search facilities; among others. The network also provides a platform for disseminating research findings and review of their policy relevance, and broadening accessibility to a worldwide audience.
Researchers, policy analysts, academics, practitioners and policy makers in government, private sector, civil society and other interested parties will find this network valuable.
